László Botár's virtual exhibition

In principle, László Botár′s paintings do not belong to abstract expressionism or European informalism, consideriung the fact that these deny the three dimensions of painting; according to their ideology, images are planar. However, Botár creates spaces even in his seemingly most abstract images. Of course, the paintings are planar, but the painted curves and the dripped lines bring the virtual space of the painting into intense motion. The structure and composition of his paintings can be deduced directly from the masterpieces of the painters of Baia Mare, Romania and the Szekler painters.

In the last decade and a half, painter László Botár - originally a designer - has been a key advocate of visual arts: first, as the president of the Harghita Visual Art Society, later, at the Harghita County Cultural Center ...

László Botár has been participating in the fine arts′ scene for 30+ years, he has had numerous exhibitions both in his homeland and abroad, some of his works are exhibited in public spaces in Miercurea Ciuc, Jigodin and the salt mine in Praid ...

If you ask him, whether he is he satisfied with his achievements, the artist gives a predictable answer: of course not. He records his achievements, but expects new ones. However, he admits: even as a student he believed that his chosen craft, design, could be reconciled with art, i.e. it could be cultivated at the level of works of art.

His studies, experience, and artistic experiments made him realize that it was all an illusion. Design is industry, art is art. However, it is especially useful and fruitful to find and pass through the gateways, hidden connections and paths between them.
